On Nov. 3, 2,500 trees will find new homes on O‘ahu, thanks to Hawai‘i’s Arbor Day giveaway tradition. The Hawai‘i Division of Forestry and Wildlife (Kaulunani Urban and Community Forestry Program), the City and County of Honolulu (Department of Urban Forestry) and the O‘ahu Urban Garden ‘Ohana team up this year to give out 500 trees at each of the five giveaway locations across the island. Get there early for your pick of 15 different species, from fruit trees (such as cacao, fig, lemon, miracle berry, Tahitian lime and ‘ulu) to native plants (kou, ‘ilima kū kula, koki‘o ke‘oke‘o and nānū).
