19th and Whimsy's sweet, colorful designs
Whim Pickings
You hate to admit it, but when it comes to style, you've lost your way.
You thought you could navigate summer's hottest trends, but you took a wrong turn at the leopard-print caftans, blew right past the dip-dyed hair and now, you're just circling the same color block.
Sounds like you need directions to 19th and Whimsy.
Consider this local line your guide to all things stylish. Designer Lauren Hayashibara takes classic cuts, like a fitted, short-sleeved mini jersey dress with scoop neckline, and adds modern details, like a sherbert print and waist-cinching twist. The result: flattering, on-trend pieces that will serve as wardrobe staples for seasons to come.
Start off in an organic cotton sateen fit-and-flare dress with surplice neckline, floral-inspired print and lace sash; pair it with a colored cami or bandeau for brunch with the girls. Then look for a shimmery bronze open-weave raglan sweater that can be worn casually off the shoulder on cool summer nights. You'll eventually reach the retro-style sweetheart strapless top with bow detail and mint print, perfect for nights on the town.
Speaking of prints, Hayashibara designs them all herself; a technique she picked up while working for a lingerie company in Los Angeles. For her current collection, the University of Hawaii graduate drew inspiration from all things summer – wildflowers, the ocean and, our favorite, ice cream.
With looks this sweet, you really can't miss.
In a line that will put you on the fashion map.
