12 of Honolulu’s Rescheduled 2020 Events

March and April were shut down. But here are some rescheduled events for you and more than 10 other people, once the sun (and we) are out again.

THEATER & ARTS

Hawai‘i International Film Festival Spring Showcase

Rescheduled from April to end of August

Your streaming devices definitely got a workout over the past few weeks. But it would be nice to experience a movie again with an audience that isn’t virtual. You won’t be able to chat throughout the films, but during one of Hawai‘i’s hottest months, and with no Olympics to binge watch, HIFF’s spring showcase will give you diversions from around the world in air-conditioned comfort. As a bonus, the inevitable post-festival withdrawal will be brief. The 40th festival’s normal fall programming is currently scheduled to begin Nov. 5.

CONCERT

Emo Nite at the Republik

Rescheduled from March to July 24

This concert already has some distancing on stage—no live bands are on the roster. If the late July date goes ahead as planned, it’s a good opportunity for you to hit the floor and work out any cooped-up quarantine frustrations to some pop-punk, rock and emo tunes.

FESTIVAL

Honolulu on Tap

Rescheduled from March to Oct. 31, 2–5 p.m.

We all needed a drink, or two, in the past month. Now you can plan to try more than 130 local and regional brews at the Honolulu edition of this national tour. All tickets for the March event will be honored, and VIP and general admission tickets are still available. Designated drivers can pick up a $10 ticket at the door.

Blaisdell Center, $45–$65, americaontap.com

CONCERT

Lea Salonga

Rescheduled from April to Oct. 23 and 24

Whether you loved her as Kim in Miss Saigon (her performance earned her the first Tony Award for an Asian woman in a leading role) or the singing voice of two Disney princesses, this Filipino Broadway star and entertainer will bring her powerful voice to the concert hall.
