Leather and Grace

Lei Chic You’ve never had a problem coming out of your shell.

No one’s ever accused you of clamming up about any topic and, let’s face it, you can be downright shellfish about sharing the spotlight. So finding just the right look for your outspoken style without resorting to spikes and metal cuffs can leave you a little crabby.

Enter Nina Kuna.

The New York-trained photographer has been turning out her nature-inspired jewelry from her Makawao home since 2008. But just in the last few weeks, she’s added dramatic leather strips to her signature precious metal-plated shells.

Lei Chic You’ll go wild for delicate gold-dipped cowries paired with shoulder-sweeping leather tassels. Dainty rhodium-plated puka shells go striking strung on deerskin leather strands that can be wrapped around the waist or looped around the neckline.

Every piece goes perfectly with Kuna's classic pieces such as her shell bangles in 18K yellow gold, rose gold, and rhodium-plate, sea urchin, starfish, or opihi designs.

It looks like you've finally met your fashion mix-and-match.
