Town Haul

Community Boutique opens in Chinatown

Community BoutiqueCongratulations. You are on fire this week.

Your Fourth of July barbecue was a blast (your friends are still raving about it).

And now that it's First Friday, you've got a hot night planned - one that includes free wine tastings at HASR Wine Co. and a slew of trunk shows and sales.

Oh, and throw in a welcome party while you're at it...

Introducing Community, a new boutique opening tonight, next to The ARTS at Marks Garage in the space formerly occupied by Super Citizen. Inside, you'll find a mix of stylish, yet comfortable apparel, swimwear, accessories and jewelry from local and mainland designers.

Say hello to Acacia's sexy printed swimsuits (Rihanna's a big fan), and meet the brand's ready-to-wear line of hooded, sleeveless maxis and zig-zag shorts with exposed zippers.

Community Boutique Then grab a drink and mingle with L*Space's short-sleeved rompers with lacy shoulder detail, Scrapbook's bohemian patchwork camisoles and sweet sundresses by Lucy Love.

If you haven't already done so, introduce yourself to Organik's eco-friendly line of locally-designed tees, dresses and hoodies, and shake hands with Angry Lady Bug's hand-sewn pillows, iPad cases and Aloha shirts made out of vintage kimono fabric.

Round out the party with tribal FEED pouches, fun slippers by Havaianas and susu, Rfavela jewelry, and an entire table full of Ola skincare products, Stila makeup palettes and colorful Butter London nail polish.

This impressive guest list is put together by owners Julie Waters and Jennifer Sheridan, who, after more then 15 years as sales representatives, are well-connected with Hawaii's fashion industry. In fact, they're already working with up-and-coming local designers to host special launches, custom displays and showcases.

So consider this your VIP invite.

And let's get this party started.

Community Boutique, 22 S. Pauahi St., will be open tonight from 5:30-8:30 p.m. for a First Friday soft opening with pupu and cocktails. For more information, call (808) 523-0001.
