Feeding Frenzy

The hungry female is a ruthless hunter. Perusing the waters to find her prey, she will not rest until she finds her victim, err, sandwich. Smelling the freshly baked breads, the savory deli meats, and the abundance of freshly chopped veggies, she knows lunchtime bliss is only moments away.

Sorry, we’ve been totally O.D.-ing on Shark Week.

But seriously, when you’re hungry, nothing stands in the way of you sinking a freshly made sub. And there’s a brand new sub shop in town that’s totally attack-worthy.

www.leichic.comThe name pretty much says it all: Good Eats. Owners Mandy Paré and Jentry Petzold are on a mission to separate the subs from the sub par, and they’re doing it by using fresh, local ingredients and piling them on—starting with rolls from Ba-Le Bakery, the perfect vessel for stacking tasty deli meats, fresh cheeses and a variety of swoon-worthy schmeers, and ending with your choice of fresh toppings, like spinach, jalapeños and tangy Kalamata olives. Plus, they offer gluten-free, multi-grain, and brown rice bread options, so the eats are not only good, they’re versatile.

Located in what was previously a lunchtime abyss, the pocket-sized shop is a welcome oasis to hungry Kaka‘ako office-dwellers. And with a funky-fun interior designed using repurposed materials, you’ll be tempted to come, sit and stay for a while.

The grand opening isn’t until September 1, but they’ve been open for business since this Monday. In the future, look for soups and salads to join the menu, and a bicycle delivery service that will cover most of downtown. Open seven days a week (they eventually plan to be 24/7), it’s the perfect place, day or night, to grab a bite.

Now that’s something you can really sink your teeth into.

Good Eats Subs ‘N Stuff, 627 South St., Honolulu, 808.521.3287. Open Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more info, visit www.goodeatshi.com.
