My Weekend Picks: The Hitt List

The grand opening of Bonsai Restaurant & Lounge is this Saturday, October 18.  DJ KT will be spinning hip-hop, while free champagne will be given away to the first hundred guests.  There will also be giveaways from In My Closet and Elements Spa & Salon.  Opens at 10pm, but show up early to beat the crowd.  Call 699-9565 for bottle service and table reservations.  Restaurant Row, 500 Ala Moana Blvd, Honolulu.

Liszt. Grieg. Rachmaninoff!  Experience the “World’s Greatest Piano Concertos,” presented by the Honolulu Symphony, this Saturday and Sunday, October 18 and 19.      The Symphony has a “3 for $45” deal going on right now that you should take advantage of before it ends October 22.  Visit for more information.

Go pick a pumpkin for Halloween at Aloun Farms as they present their 6th Annual Great Kapolei Pumpkin Picking Patch.  They will open their gates beginning this Saturday with fun activities such as hayrides, pony rides and picture booths.  Parking is $3 and pumpkins are priced according to size.  91-1440 Farrington Hwy., Kapolei.  Open October 18, 19, 25 and 26.  Visit for more information.

The Hawaii International Film Festival continues this weekend and new screenings of award winners have been added, including Chief, The Good, The Bad, The Weird and Living Pono with Jason Scott Lee.  Visit for more information.
