The Hitt List: My New Year's Eve Picks

If you’re a little unsure about what to do for New Year’s Eve, don’t worry.  These spots around town are guaranteed to give you a bottle-popping, fireworks-watching, disco-dancing night to remember.

Happy Holidays, everyone!

Chef Mavro
Before celebrating all night, start your evening right with an unbelievable dinner at Chef Mavro’s. The menu includes caviar, foie gras, lobster curry, confit hamachi, wagyu beef and dessert. Price is $170 without wine selections and $260 with wine selections, per person.  Reservations from 7-9:30pm. 1969 S. King St., Honolulu. (808) 944-4714

Hanohano Room
Thirty stories above Waikiki beach, watch the fireworks displays with an unobstructed view from Twist at Hanohano.  Twist will feature a special five-course meal for New Years Eve, with seating beginning at 5 pm.  A pianist will begin the evening’s entertainment and at 9:30pm John Valentine and Rocky Brown will perform. $155 per person.  Sheraton Waikiki Hotel, 2255 Kalakaua Ave. (808) 922-4422

Ever since it opened, this club has ruled Honolulu’s nightlife for the twenty-something club crowd.  This evening, Level 4 will celebrate Studio 54, so come dressed to disco into the New Year.  DJs Paul Brandon and Mike D will be playing disco with current club favorites.  You know it will be packed, so get your tickets early, or reserve VIP.  $30 presale, $50 at the door.  Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, 4th floor. Lewer’s Lounge
Halekulani’s popular upscale lounge will be open from 7:30 p.m. - 1 a.m. with jazz piano entertainment by Bruce Hamada and Jim Howard.  Nothing different will be done for New Year’s Eve, but why would you want it to be different?  It’s already first-rate.  There will be a $10 cover for non-house guests.  Halekulani Hotel, 2199 Kalia Rd., Waikiki.  (808) 923-2311.  21+

RumFire Waikiki
The only club on the ocean, RumFire will countdown the New Year with a drop of its own Rum Fireball into the Sheraton’s new pool.  Ms. Chanel and Auggie T will host, while DJs, a hip-hop dance troupe, a fashion show, cabaret showgirls and Makana perform.  Grand prizes will be given away from Sheraton Waikiki, RumFire and Twist at Hanohano.  Non-alcoholic beverages will be free all night for the DD’s.  Tickets presale: $25; at the door: $35.  2255 Kalakaua Ave., Waikiki.  Call (808) 922-4422. 21+
