I’m a denim devotee, so to hear that it’s being upgraded to a must-have trend for spring is sweet music to my ears. Designers such as Tom Ford, Public School, Alexander Wang and Calvin Klein have taken the All-American essential and turned it into show-stopping statements. Selvedge styles receive sleek, tailored cuts, light stonewashes carry on the boyfriend-jean phenomenon, but now with pleats, and the damn-fine artsy versions create a buzz with paint splatters, graffiti sprays and painted blooms. Yeah, we’re talking all levels of jean-ius.
But, even with all the bells and whistles of this year’s VIPs (very impressive pants!), I still find myself loving the true-blue styles. So I hunted down a couple of OG variations from local designers and boutiques to help y’all give your loved ones a blue Christmas.
