Open house pick of the week: Black Point

Most people can only dream of owning a home like this new listing on Black Point, but it’s worth a look if you’re driving around on Sunday.

Located on Royal Pl., the home has a very simple, unassuming exterior with colorful tropical landscaping out front. However, when you step inside, the spaciousness will bowl you over. (Click here for details.)

The expansive living, dining, and family/media area flow into each other, making the rooms seem even larger than they already are. The high ceilings—20 ft. tall in the main area—add to the open ambience.

The gourmet kitchen has Viking appliances and a design that blends modern and traditional elements; it looks almost like a set from Martha Stewart or the Food Network. Like the rest of the house, it’s got a lot of elbow room and lots of counter and storage space. “I imagine this is ideal for Thanksgiving dinner,” says realtor Anne Perry.

There are four bedrooms, two of which are master suites (one is on the first floor for easy access) and 3.5 bathrooms that are spa-like, right down to the rainfall showerhead and the shower floor made of soft rocks that massage your feet as you stand on them.

Interestingly enough, the home started out as a spec project but the original owners ended up throwing themselves into it and creating a real island home that exudes warmth and the feeling they put into it. The finishing touches, right down to the distressed wood floors, make it a luxurious home without pretension.

If you drop by this weekend, it’s in an enclave off Kahala Ave. that most people don’t even know about, so drive carefully. Happy house hunting!

Money talk: $3,400,000 fee simple
