Got a Pet? Here Are Some of O‘ahu’s Most Pet-Friendly Condos
It’s not easy finding a place where dogs are welcome.
If you’ve ever tried to find a rental for you and your canine companion, you know: The only time a dog is a disadvantage is when you’re apartment-hunting. Fed up? It might be time to take advantage of current low interest rates and buy a place of your own.
A surprisingly high number of condominiums on O‘ahu allow pets. Some have specific rules limiting the type of pet, number of animals or maximum weight. Some have additional quirky rules: At Villa on Eaton Square, for example, dogs are welcome, but they are not allowed to walk across the entryway or courtyard. Spend time in the lobby and you’ll see dogs in wagons, baby carriers or just being carried—even quite large dogs.
Some favorite pet-friendly buildings are Windward Cove in Kailua; Yacht Club Terrace in Kāne‘ohe, where it seems thateveryone has a pet; Hokua, where you can have up to two pets with no size limit; and Capitol Place downtown. For a complete list of pet-friendly buildings, click here.
