Over the Edge … of the Marina

I’m not sure why, but the owners of this Hawaii Kai (technically, Luna Kai) home wanted a saltwater infinity pool overlooking Koko Marina. This wasn’t an easy undertaking; can you imagine getting a Bobcat on the marina to make it happen?

Don’t get me wrong, the result is beautiful, and it’s a great spot for lounging, day or night. They must have had a tenacious vision for their entertaining, as it has a nice deck from the living room and leads to the private boat dock.

The home’s location is fairly convenient for Hawaii Kai living, as it is a short drive or kayak ride to various shops and restaurants in the area. In fact, it’s directly across the marina from Longs Drugs, Safeway, Kale’s Natural Foods and the new Island Brew café.

The single-level, 2,9970-square-foot home has an open floor plan, built in 1968 for people who want to grow into their twilight years with ease.

There are three bedrooms, each with its own full bathroom and a split air conditioning unit. (There’s a total of four bathrooms, which is, again, ideal for entertaining.)

The large, landscaped courtyard features a tropical waterfall, and the lot is a nice size at almost 8,000 square feet. (Click here for details.)

You can see this home tomorrow from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., and again on Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m.

Money talk: $1,450,000 fee simple
