Open house pick of the week: Hawaii Kai
Families often want to live near schools, but don’t want to live too close due to noise and/or traffic. This new listing in Hawaii Kai is close to Kaiser High School, but is situated in such a way that no noise reaches the home. (Click here for details.)
“When people first see how close it is to Kaiser, they worry about the noise from sporting events that you often get in this proximity,” says realtor Sachi Petersen. “But it’s on the opposite side and up the hill, so there’s actually no sound. It’s very quiet.”
The three-bedroom, 1.5-bathroom home sits on a corner lot, so it gets good breezes. It has a view of Koko Head, which is great for a single-level house, but Petersen says there’s potential to build a second story to maximize the panorama.
When you first see the 1,441-square-foot structure, it’s fairly plain, but the interior was renovated in 2008 with a very contemporary design. This contrast is so dramatic, we think you need to see it to understand, which is why it is our open house pick of the week.
The lot is 5,957 square feet and very private, so it’s ideal for kids at play or for entertaining. Petersen adds that the property is ready to move in, as it’s equipped with a lawn sprinkler, PVS solar system and has been professionally landscaped.
The first open house is this Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. Happy house hunting!
