Buyers find Kaimuki to be hot property

Last week, an older home on Luawai St. got listed—the third in just a few months—and was the hot property to see for broker’s open. What is it about Luawai St. that’s so desirable?

Granted, this single-level home is remodeled and is in good condition, despite being 54 years old, and is under a million dollars. (Click here for details.) The 1,554-square-foot home has three bedrooms, two baths, and an enclosed lanai area for added elbow room. There’s a formal living room, dining area, and remodeled kitchen/nook that is distinctively an older design, but very charming and open.

The lot is 5,077 square feet, so you get a nice little front yard and an enclosed back yard for puttering. You also have a separate laundry room and a covered, open lanai of almost 200 square feet in the back.

“The area is convenient. It’s near schools, parks, Times, and Kahala Mall, so it’s a great place to live,” says one of the neighbors, who asked not to be identified. “You know it’s a desirable neighborhood because the homes that were listed on this street recently all sold right away, even one that was in tear-down condition.

“It seems like any home for sale in Kaimuki is pretty hot,” he adds. “Everyone wants to live here, but you would need to buy an older home to afford it.”

This home is easy to see, but will be by private showings only.
