Trump Waikiki launches the Platinum Collection

When I first heard about The Trump International Hotel & Tower Waikiki Beach Walk’s new Platinum Collection, I thought it just featured specific suites and residences available for sale. As it turns out, the 12 showcased units are part of an overall package, a creative incentive for buyers that jump-starts the experience of living in Hawaii.

Realtors and prospective buyers can learn more about the package at the Trump’s new sales center in the Waikiki tower and take a tour of the model units. I took a preview tour yesterday and was surprised at how efficiently (and luxuriously) livable they are, even the studios, for a condo hotel.

Every unit, even if it’s not in the Platinum Collection, comes fully furnished, even down to the coffee maker and blender. If you’re a full-time resident, just bring your clothes and move in. More likely, you’re using this real estate as a vacation home or rental, so the day-to-day needs for a short-term visit are taken care of. The views, especially from higher floors, are amazing.

If you do purchase a unit in the Platinum Collection, they’ve bundled it so that your maintenance fee is waived for 12 months, you get a closing cost credit (yes, credit — something you wouldn’t get in any transaction unless the realtor is your sister), and a special financing package. On top of that, you get a credit for spa services or dining at BLT Steak, two years of airport limousine service, luxury beach services (imagine calling for a katsu sandwich from the surf), and some comped nights for guests who might be visiting you.

Depending on the kind of unit purchased, you get a certain amount of credit toward Hawaii experiences, such as golf with a pro, a sunset yacht cruise, a private chef, a guided hiking tour, or a helicopter tour.

“We can provide anything you want for the ‘Hawaii experience,’ within the budget provided,” said Jeff Skinner of S&P Destination Properties, the company handling the sales and marketing. “Most people want to use it to share Hawaii with their family and friends.”

Unlike other projects, outside agents are allowed to sell in the Trump, so the sales team is having a special realtor event next Tuesday to show the model units and network. Agents and buyers can visit the sales center at any time, however.

Units range from $578,000 to $3.8 million, with penthouses available upon request.
