Counting down the days to Halloween just got a whole lot easier. Get your boo-ty burn on with these four Halloween-themed workout routines.
YMCA of Honolulu
If you’re looking to add a frightening flair to your Zumba routine, join the YMCA of Honolulu and dance to your Halloween playlist faves, including the “Monster Mash” and “Thriller.” Don your best costume and head to the Windward YMCA’s Zombie Zumba class (for members only) on Oct. 31 from 9 to 10 a.m. and 5 to 6:15 p.m. Or go to the Windward branch for a Halloween water show featuring mermaids (aka synchronized swimmers) on Oct. 28 at 3 p.m., which is open to the public.
The Kaimukī-Wai‘alae branch will also host an aquatics-themed fall festival, kids games and a craft fair (open to the public) for you and your family on Oct. 27 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Check your local YMCA branch for more details.
Membership to the YMCA is $47 for adults and $79 for families per month, with discounts available for kids and seniors, ymcahonolulu.org
Fin to Fitness
Get all dolled up as your favorite mermaid and learn to swim like the dolphins. A Fin to Fitness aquatics class teaches you how to burn calories through swim and cardio. You can book a class for your bachelorette party or other special events with instructor Kariel Roberts, who sports her custom-made mermaid tails. Pricing is based on how many are in your group and location (she typically works out of Turtle Bay Resort). See you on the flip side!
Get your workout in while rocking out to spooky songs (think “I’m in Love with a Monster” and the Ghostbusters theme song) at the YWCA’s Halloween-themed Zumba classes. They are typically offered on Mondays and Fridays throughout October, depending on the instructor (for members only).
Monthly membership costs $40 for adults, $30 for seniors (age 60 and older) and $25 for students. ywcaoahu.org
