Watch This Woman Turn into a Creepy Zombie With Incredible Special FX Makeup

You’ll want to make a run for it after watching this video.

Angelina Khan looks friendly and harmless when you first meet her. That’s until Haunted Plantation makeup artist Noa Laporga and makeup assistant Elvis Gonzalez transforms her into a gruesome zombie. The special effects makeup looks so realistic you might think you’re face-to-face with a walker as zombies are known as in AMC’s The Walking Dead. Not to worry, though, Khan is just a good actress.

A typical makeup session takes an average of three to five hours. That includes sculpting, molding and casting a full face silicone prosthetic for each actor. Airbrush with the color of death, add some hairspray, insert spooky contact lenses—voilà—you’ve got yourself a fresh zombie. And yes, it really is hard for Khan to see through the foggy contact lenses. So hard that she needs to be escorted around HONOLULU Magazine’s office like a limping corpse. After a quick makeup session, we captured some incredible photos near our office—a spooky staircase—made even spookier by her presence.

Laporga showed us just how much hard work goes into the makeup for costumed actors at the Haunted Plantation haunted house in Waipahu. And Laporga’s condensed version still took an hour and 40 minutes! We turned all the footage into a one-minute timelapse that’s easier to digest. Watch the video above if you dare.

Want to see more of the makeup up close for the full ghoulish treatment? Expect a creepy clown, a pale woman and other horror characters at the Haunted Plantation, which opens Friday the 13th (of course!).

Oct. 13–15, 20–22, 27–29, 31, $15 general admission, $20 fast pass, Waipahu Plantation Village, 94-695 Waipahu St., hawaiihauntedplantation.com
