Looking to help save the world—in style? Hilo-based fabric and clothing designer Sig Zane has teamed up with hip sneaker store KicksHI to create a limited-edition Converse shoe, due out at the beginning of 2007, for the Red Project, headed up by U2’s Bono. Proceeds from the Hawaiiana-meets-streetwear shoe will benefit women and children affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa. Sig Zane’s traditional ‘ulu (breadfruit) print also appears on a line of T-shirts and hats (see left), coming out this month.

Available at KicksHI, 1530 Makaloa St., 941-9191; Ward Center, 591-8018.
