Are You Getting the Best Rates for Your Insurance? There’s a Way to Find Out

(Sponsored) The Hawai‘i DCCA Insurance Division offers annual premium comparison guides to help consumers get the most out of their money.

The Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs offers free comparison guides to help residents shop and compare their options.

Finding the insurance you need at the price you want can feel like a daunting task. With an abundance of motor vehicle, homeowner’s, condominium and renter’s insurance companies in Hawai‘i, many residents struggle when it comes to shopping around for the right plan.

Reviewing insurance policies annually could help consumers better understand their coverages and avoid unexpected expenses. To help residents choose the best option for their needs, each year the Hawai‘i DCCA Insurance Division releases an annual sample premium comparison guides for motor vehicle, homeowner’s, condominium, and renter’s insurance.

“Utilizing these premium comparison guides can help consumers shop and compare to make the right insurance decisions for their situation and needs,” says Insurance Commissioner Colin Hayashida. “While costs are important, consumers should also feel comfortable with their insurer and consider other factors such as financial ratings, stability, insurance product offerings, customer service, and claims processing procedures.” These resources can be used as a general reference to compare rates and identify other insurance companies, which helps consumers research and explore options and ensures greater competition in the marketplace.
