By Land or By Sea Farmer Series Dinner

The last event for 2010 in the popular Farmer Series Dinner at Alan Wong's Honolulu will take place next Wednesday, October 13th.

The theme for this dinner will be "By Land or By Sea" and feature an opportunity to enjoy and interact with Hiroshi Arai of Big Island Abalone Corporation and Joe Wilson of Kona Cold Lobster and learn how they sustainably raise seafood on the Natural Energy Laboratory of Hawaii Authority (NELHA) facility on the Big Island using Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion (OTEC) technology.

Chef Alan and his team have created a delicious, multi-course experience utilizing products from these two aquaculture farmers and select local producers. Here's a look at the menu:

The Farmer Series dinner was created to inspire and educate local residents about the importance and advantages to supporting local farmers. As Hawaii imports over 80% of its food supply, approximately $3.1 billion is leaving the state to support agribusiness elsewhere. Imagine what the local economy would look like if Hawaii produced more of its own food and some of that was kept in our local communities.

Reservations are taken from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and the prix fixe menu is offered for $80/person or $110 with wine pairings.

For reservations, please call (808) 949-2526. To learn more about these farmers and their products, please visit www.alanwongs.com.
