[PHOTOS] Many Gather in Downtown Honolulu in Support of Maunakea

Cultural practitioners from ʻĪlioʻulaokalani Coalition, including six hālau hula, and people from across Oʻahu gathered at ‘Iolani Palace on Sunday, August 11 in support of protecting Maunakea from future development.

The proposed Thirty Meter Telescope is prompting widespread discussion of the pros and cons of the project. The group was part of a live event online called #JAM4MAUNAKEA that was organized by Pu‘uhonua o Pu‘uhuluhulu.
