Head of School

Hongwanji Mission School strives to prepare students, preschool through eighth grade, for the world in which they will live. We are committed to helping students achieve academic excellence by nurturing young minds, spurring energetic innovation and cultivating compassionate hearts. Classes average 18 students per teacher, and students enjoy enriching resource classes ranging from art to taiko, with an emphasis on moral values based on Buddhist philosophies. The safe, stimulating learning environment of this private coed school includes a library, technology lab, music room, gym, tennis court, fitness center and swimming pool. HMS has thoughtfully integrated technology as an important tool in research-based, hands-on, project-based learning to develop young minds and enhance students’ understanding.

In addition to the regular school day, HMS offers an after-school program until 5 p.m. with a wide variety of available classes and activities, morning care for primary age students and extended care to 5:30 p.m. for working parents’ convenience and peace of mind.

Please visit our website if you are interested in a campus tour or more information. Applications are still being accepted for the 2018–2019 school year.
