First Fridays are always bumpin’ in Chinatown, when new artwork is displayed, shops stay open longer and bars offer food and drink deals. Change up your routine by heading a few blocks down to the Hawai‘i State Art Museum and get your Labor Day weekend started with live music, fresh art and alcohol. Ledward Ka‘apana, known for his slack key guitar and ‘ukulele music, will provide live entertainment throughout the evening. There will also be chairs on the second floor courtyard. You will be able to purchase beer and wine, too. Check out the opening of the latest exhibit, Accession, which features recent acquisitions by the Art in Public Places Collection of the Hawai‘i State Foundation on Culture and Arts. Bring the little ones and they can play in the hands-on activity room made for kids.
