Walk: 2016 PetWalk

Sunday, Oct. 30, 8 a.m.

As a local nonprofit, the Hawaiian Humane Society relies on community support and funding to stay afloat. PetWalk, its annual fundraiser and charity walk, is your opportunity to support its cause by collecting donations, donating yourself or by simply showing up. And, thanks to an exemption by Mayor Kirk Caldwell and the City & County of Honolulu’s Parks division, all pets are welcome at Magic Island for this one special  day. Enjoy food, entertainment and games including a pet costume contest, pet float competition, giveaways and lots more.

Taste: Hawaiian Airlines Presents A Culinary Flight

Friday, Oct. 28, 6 to 9 p.m.

If food marathons were a thing, we imagine they’d be something like A Culinary Flight, presented by Hawaiian Airlines as part of the Hawai‘i Food & Wine Festival. Your evening takes off with a sizable menu comprising dishes crafted by 20 world-renowned chefs, including Hawai‘i’s own Chai Chaowasaree (Chef Chai), Andrew Le (The Pig & The Lady) and George Mavrothalassitis (Chef Mavro). And, since the only thing better than great food is an excellent wine to pair it with, head to the wine bar, where 20 highly allocated wines from the Pacific Coast are ready for sampling. Additional fresh cocktails and beers will be provided by featured mixologists from across the country who know their way around a jigger.

Play: Haunted Village

Friday, Oct. 28, 6 to 8:30 p.m.

Sometimes, especially if you have little ones, you just want a Halloween that’s all “boo”s and no booze. Enter Haunted Village, a completely family-friendly Halloween event at Windward Community College that offers all sorts of fun activities to amuse and spook. The lineup includes face painting, Dr. Phrankenstein’s Phantom Physics Lab, a costume contest and lots more. Did we even mention the medieval battling? Also, expect to see ghosts, goblins, monsters, mutants and plenty of other (friendly) undead roaming around.

Watch: The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Today through Monday, Oct. 31, 8 p.m.

The classiest of trashy cult films will be at The ARTS at Marks Garage for a few nights only! You and your tube of red lipstick are invited to The Rocky Horror Picture Show, with shows every night at 8 p.m. now through Monday, Oct. 31. Each fully interactive show is accompanied with a partial shadow cast, and costumes—fishnet stockings, glittery heels, corsets, you guys know the drill—are strongly encouraged. Ticketholders are invited to come an hour early for cocktails, face paint, movie snacks and more. Afterwards, feel free to hang around The ARTS at Marks Garage until 10:30 p.m. in post-Rocky Horror giggles.

Play: Hallowbaloo Street Festival 2016

Saturday, Oct. 29, 4:30 to 10 p.m.

Hallowbaloo, already one of Honolulu’s go-to All Hallow’s Eve bashes, is even bigger this year with an entertainment lineup, food court and costumed patrons to die for (but don’t). Festivities are spread throughout Downtown, starting at Hawai‘i State Art Museum, Chinatown and Aloha Tower Marketplace. A complimentary trolley service for partygoers ensures minimal sweating in your full-body panda costume. This year’s headliner is DJ Lo Down Loretta Brown aka Erykah Badu, who you’ll have a chance to experience both on the street festival’s main stage and, after dark sets in, during Club Hallowbaloo. Sorry kiddos, this event’s for 21 and over unless Mom or Dad agree to chaperone.
