This family-friendly event has something for everyone, from a kids zone to skate ramps, live music, hula, food vendors and, of course, tattoo. Pacific Islander tattoo artists will share the heritage of ancient tattooing styles known as kakau and tatau. Tattoo artists from the Mainland and all over the world will be joining the locals all under one roof. Learn more about tattoos, watch people get inked or get inked yourself.

If you want to take it easy this weekend, spend a relaxing day in the park and revel in the beautiful artistry and grace of hula dancing. Watch performances by the Lei Queen and Court and enjoy music from the Royal Hawaiian Band, just to name a few. Get comfortable by bringing a mat or something to sit on and pack a lunch. Then you can kick back and enjoy Hawai‘i’s longest running, noncompetitive hula event.

Play: Pokémon GO Fest
Saturday, Aug. 6, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
You want to be the very best, we know. So if you want to catch them all, join other trainers and fans of all ages at Salt at Our Kaka‘ako for an afternoon dedicated to just that. There will be Pokémon-themed activities and food. Lures will be dropped every half hour at all the areas surrounding Poké Stops. Enter the Pokémon costume contest, try your luck at the Instagram raffle and you’ll have a chance to win day-of deals from the Salt merchants. Charging stations will also be available so you can continue your journey of becoming a Pokémon master.

Attend: Meet The Author And Illustrator

If you have keiki of your own or know any who love story time, bring them to Barnes and Noble on Saturday. Island Toes author Christin Lozano and illustrator Mariko Merritt will be there doing book readings. This fun and cute story was written for kamaʻāina keiki and takes the reader exploring the Islands from the perspective of toes—wearing rubber slippers, getting covered in the sand or taking a dip in the water. Lozano and Merritt will also do book signings, and a slipper magnet craft activity will follow.

Volunteer: Ala Moana Beach Cleanup

Let’s talk trash for a minute. We love our beautiful beaches and marine life, right? So let’s keep them clean. Take the opportunity to keep our oceans healthy and beautiful by joining the Waikīkī
Aquarium in a beach cleanup at Ala Moana Beach Park. Head to the Kewalo Basin side and check in at 8:45 a.m. Bring water and sun protection. The rest—trash bags, gloves and other supplies—will be provided. Stick around for some treats because the Hard Rock Café is providing complimentary cookies.

No, you won’t find a selection of freshly caught fish, but what you will find is an eclectic mix of clothing, jewelry, retro furniture and vintage accessories at Fishcake Hawai‘i’s Sunday Fishmarket. Browse and shop at Ānuenue Tea, M33Ms Designs, Indigo Elixirs and Vintage Elixirs, just to name a few. Plus, you can get a palm and tarot card reading from Athena and Alice Wong.
