Ka Makana Ali‘i Second Anniversary Celebration

Friday, Oct. 19, through Sunday, Oct. 21

If you’ve yet to visit Ka Makana Ali‘i, here’s a reason to head west this weekend: The Kapolei shopping center is celebrating its second birthday with three days of fireworks, fashion and music. Friday through Sunday, participating stores will sell Fukubukuro-inspired Royal Gift Bags filled with deeply discounted surprise merchandise; plus, along with other sales, shoppers who spend at least $150 can receive a $10 Ka Makana Ali‘i gift card. Stick around on Saturday for fashion shows in the afternoon and a special fireworks show at 8 p.m., and enjoy live music by Mākaha Sons, Kimié Miner, Yoza and the American Renaissance Academy at Center Court throughout the event.

Get ready—Waikīkī is about to be taken over by a rainbow of colors. Take strides with the LGBTQ+ community in this year’s march starting at Ala Moana Beach Park and ending at Kapi‘olani Park. Participation is free and open to all, and this year’s event is slated to be the most fabulous one yet, with more parade units, more costumes and lots of surprises in store. After the parade, head to the Honolulu Pride Festival at Diamond Head Greens for ‘ono food, live entertainment, vendor booths and good vibes all around.

Sustainable Coastlines Hawai‘i Fundraiser

Friday, Oct. 19, 7 to 10:30 p.m.

It takes a collective effort to keep Hawai‘i beautiful. For the past eight years, Sustainable Coastlines Hawai‘i has rallied volunteers to keep our Island coastlines free of trash. So far, the organization has hosted 99 large-scale beach cleanups, and, with the help of 22,355 volunteers, removed 376,728 pounds of trash and debris from Hawai‘i’s coastlines. Help support a cause that benefits every Islander at Sustainable Coastlines’ fundraiser at Kona Brewing Co. Brewpub in Koko Marina. Each individual ticket ($100 each) includes all-you-can-eat bites and two free glasses of beer or wine; plus, enjoy live music, a marine debris fashion show and a giveaway.
