Fashion Flight: Paper | Plane

Friday, Nov. 2, 5:30 to 9 p.m.

This special First Friday event, presented by Hawai‘i State Art Museum and Mori by Art + Flea, features two locally loved designers who will showcase their latest pieces on the runway: Matt Bruening will debut his eponymous label’s brand-new Anywhere But Here collection, inspired by escapism through travel; while Rumi Murakami’s Paper collection revisits the designer’s aesthetic roots of structured silhouettes, featuring tailored pieces that fold and drape with an angular, two-dimensional quality that looks like paper.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in Concert

Do you solemnly swear that you’re up to no good? Magic, mischief and music converge in this special screening, which replaces the film’s unforgettable score with a live symphony orchestra performance in perfect sync with the movie playing on the big screen.

The Mom Made Market Holiday Show

Saturday, Nov. 3 and Sunday, Nov. 4, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Mom Made Market hosts semiregular pop-ups and aims to empower women with families to follow their entrepreneurial spirit and pursue their creative passions. Featuring more than 50 local mom-run brands offering a variety of Hawai‘i-made products for men, women, keiki and the home, this pop-up is a great way to support moms in business, find unique handmade gifts for everyone on your Christmas list and shop local, all at the same time.

Arbor Day Honolulu Festival

Saturday, Nov. 3, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Foster Botanical Garden hosts the first-ever Arbor Day Honolulu this Saturday. Grab the kids and head to the 14-acre forest sanctuary to celebrate your love for leafy friends with kid-friendly activities, educational booths and demos, local artists and guest speakers. The festival will also be one of the five sites giving away free trees as part of Hawai‘i’s Arbor Day giveaway tradition. Fifteen different species will be available on a first-come, first-served basis. Get there early for your pick of cacao, ‘ulu, plumeria, ‘ilima kū kula and more.
