This First Friday, Hawai‘i State Art Museum kicks off April with a jam-packed lineup of all-local artists. Guests will have a chance to see the new Andy South menswear collection by designer (and past Project Runway finalist) Ari South at a runway show, watch artist Gaye Chan create a beautiful woven basket entirely out of plastic, create their own stained glass-inspired art project, view art pieces by a few of Honolulu Biennial 2019’s participating artists throughout the museum and much more, all to the live music of Kimmer Horsen, Julia Akatsu Soyanav and award-winning musician Izik.

History Theatre and Evening Tour
Friday, April 5, at 5 p.m.
Two visitors from the 1800s will stop by for an evening of historical stories. Actors will play the parts of William Cooper Parke, the marshal of the Kingdom of Hawai‘i during the smallpox epidemic of 1853, and Lucy Kaopaulu Peabody, a lady-in-waiting to Queen Emma who brought back the royal Ka‘ahumanu Society. The ticket includes a cocktail hour before the centuries-old stories begin.
