Rain bumming you out? Don’t worry, our weekend forecast still predicts plenty of fun heading your way. Head to the Waikīkī Shell for a one-night-only live show by Hawai‘i-grown band The Green, nosh on culinary creations at ‘Iolani School’s annual fair, support moms while shopping unique local goods and more.

‘Iolani Fair

Friday, April 20 and Saturday, April 21, noon to 10:30 p.m.

‘Iolani School’s annual fair has something for everyone in the family. Held at the school grounds, the two-day event will have rides and games for all ages, opportunities to shop handmade crafts and local produce, and live entertainment. The biggest draw for many, though, is the food. In addition to classic fair offerings of giant turkey legs, gumbo and Okinawan soba noodles, fairgoers this year can be the first to try brand-new bites such as sweet-and-spicy malassadas, 15-layer chocolate crepe cakes and specialty hot dogs. Looking for finer fare? Head to the dedicated gourmet food tent for culinary dishes and live chef demos. Parking is available across the street at Kaimukī High School for a $5 flat rate, with a complimentary shuttle that takes you directly to the school’s gate.

The Green

Friday, April 20 at 7 p.m.

Since making its debut in 2011, local reggae band The Green has grown beyond its Hawai‘i roots into one of the biggest names in the genre. Currently, the band is on tour promoting its chart-topping fourth studio album, Marching Orders, and makes a stop in its home state this Friday for a performance at Waikīkī Shell. Hear its latest hits, plus past favorites, at a concert that’s all about spreading the aloha.

Honolulu AIDS Walk

Sunday, April 22, 8 a.m. to noon

Raise awareness, raise funds and show support for friends and family at the Honolulu AIDS Walk. Registration for the event is completely free—you can register as an individual or create a team for your group of friends or co-workers. The event begins at 8 a.m. at the Kapiʻolani Park Bandstand and leads into a 5K that takes walkers along the perimeter of Kapiʻolani Park, ending at the starting line. Parking in the area can be tight, but the Honolulu AIDS Walk will offer limited parking for free at Jefferson Elementary School.

Mom Made Market

Saturday, April 21 and Sunday, April 22, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Mom Made Market holds pop-up events in various states including California, Oregon, Arizona and Hawai‘i. With a mission to help local entrepreneurial moms support their families while doing what they love, the market offers a platform for these business-savvy ladies to sell goods and services, network with other moms in business, create new friendships, and connect with their customers and supporters in person. Hawai‘i’s Mom Made Market takes place this weekend at Salt at Our Kaka‘ako and will feature more than 50 local clothing, accessories, beauty and food vendors.
