What do designers Kini Zamora, Ari Southiphong and Jay Sario have in common? In addition to competing in Project Runway, all three are proud graduates of the Honolulu Community College fashion program. This weekend, buy your tickets to HCC’s annual fashion show for a peek at the next slate of local talent; celebrate a centuries-old sport involving mallets and horses; see Adam Devine live; and bid online for your next Hawai‘i-made home accent.

Hawai‘i may be a tiny chain of islands in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, but it’s produced some serious talent. Case in point: The Honolulu Community College fashion program has given us past Project Runway contenders Kini Zamora, Ari Southiphong and Jay Sario, as well as Danene Manuheali‘i Lunn of the namesake local label Manuheali‘i. At its annual fashion show, participating first- and second-year students are invited to showcase their best creations on the runway. This year’s, titled “Bon Voyage,” takes place at Aloha Tower Pier 11 on Sunday, May 6, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., and will feature seven talented students, heavy pūpū and—possibly—a special appearance by one of HCC’s famous alumni.

Hawai‘i Polo Club Opening Day

Sunday, April 15, 1 to 7 p.m.

Though often associated with the United Kingdom, the modern game of polo actually originated in Manipur, India, where it is known as pulu. Over here, the Hawai‘i Polo Club, established in 1963, has offered locals a way to share their interest and passion for the sport for more than half a century. Kick off the 2018 polo season with the club this Sunday in Mokulē‘ia. Opening day festivities include ‘ono eats, beachside day drinking and watching pro players from across the globe compete. Plus, stick around for a performance by local Grammy-winning vocalist John Cruz, starting at 5:30 p.m.

Adam Devine

Friday, April 13 at 8 p.m.

You may know him as co-producer, writer and star of Comedy Central’s past hit series Workaholics, the villainous Treblemaker of Pitch Perfect and one half of the hard-partying sibling duo in Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates. This weekend, fans of Adam Devine have the chance to enjoy his comedic talents in person with a one-night-only show this Friday at Hawai‘i Theatre.

InFORMable Feast, A Virtual Silent Auction

Sunday, April 15 at 5 p.m. through Sunday, April 22 at 6 p.m.

Instead of buying that dime-a-dozen vase or hanging art at Pier 1, Target or Ross, give your home some local love with one of the artworks up for bidding at InFORMable Feast, a local virtual silent auction that, starting on Sunday at 5 p.m., will offer gorgeous, one-of-a-kind pieces of art up for bidding on by the public. The best part: Each one was made by the hands of a talented Hawai‘i craftsman. Looking for something sophisticated, simple and polished? These sculptures by Derek Bencomo, Francisco Clemente and Mark Mitsuda will elevate your room to new stylish heights. If your tastes run a little quirky, these pieces by Esther Shimazu, Amber Aguirre and Terry Savage will leave an impression on your dinner guests. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Hawai‘i Craftsmen, which has been supporting local artists and promoting their works to the public for half a century.
