Celebrate Micronesia Festival

Saturday, May 11, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Did you know the Federated States of Micronesia comprise more than 600 islands? Experience the colorful traditions of Guam, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas and more this Saturday at the Bishop Museum. Hosted by local Micronesian communities and organizations, the Celebrate Micronesia Festival showcases the culture’s contemporary art, dance, fashion and music through live performances, demos, exhibits and films.

Courtyard Cinema: Ramen Shop

Thursday, May 9, 6 to 9 p.m.

Every second Thursday of the month, Hawai‘i International Film Festival and Ward Village give residents the chance to experience one of HIFF’s curated films under the stars. This month’s free film, Ramen Shop, will be screened at Courtyard Cinema’s new location at Victoria Ward Park. Register here for your free ticket, and make sure to get there early—seating is on a first-come, first-served basis. Make sure to bring a blanket to lounge on for full movie enjoyment.

Honolulu Triathlon

Sunday, May 12, at 6 a.m.

Fulfill that long-forgotten New Year’s resolution in a big way, or live vicariously by watching experienced triathletes race on land and sea, this Sunday at the Honolulu Triathlon. Ages 7 and older at any fitness level can compete in 10 different races, including distance-adjusted triathlons for teen and keiki participants, and an Olympic Triathlon, the event’s longest and most challenging course, which includes a 1.5K swim, 40K bike and 10K run.
