Virtual High School Graduations
Throughout May
For many high school seniors, this weekend is commencement. And just because in-person ceremonies are canceled, it doesn’t mean the festivities are, too. Several public schools will be livestreaming ceremonies and drive-thru diploma pickups that will air on some media outlets. Check out this list to find what every DOE high school plans to do for graduation. Also, some private schools, such as Kamehameha Schools, will also be hosting virtual ceremonies. Go class of 2020! Shinnyo Lantern Floating
Monday, May 25, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Every year on Memorial Day, 7,000 candlelit lanterns float out from our shores in tribute to our loved ones and military personnel who have died. Instead of lanterns this year, a one-hour broadcast streamed on Hawai‘i News Now and online will include a blessing and personal stories of sacrifice and struggles overcome. The public is also asked to submit prayers, stories and remembrances that will be published online. For more information and to submit your messages, go here.

A Taste of Four Seasons: What’s in Your Pantry?
Friday, May 22, noon to 1 p.m.
The Four Seasons Resort O‘ahu at Ko Olina hosts weekly online master classes through its Coconut Wire series. This week’s show features Martin Knaubert, the resort’s veteran chef and director of food and beverage. He will show us how to cook healthy breakfast and lunch staples using what we can typically find in our pantries and other ingredients that we may have forgotten we had.

Slightly Off: A Virtual Improv Comedy Show
Saturday, May 23, 7:30 to 8 p.m.
Improv Hawai‘i has moved all of its comedy classes and live shows online. On Saturdays, the group hosts free virtual improv shows that feature long and short skits and maybe a little bit of rapping. On top of that, they also have virtual comedy rap battles, workshops and even a CD release party that you can tune in to almost every week.
