What Happens When Cheesy Pizza Meets Salty, Tangy Filipino Adobo?
We headed to Shay’s Filipino Cafe to try this Italian-Filipino mashup.
Spring is in the air and Girls’ Day is right around the corner. You know what that means. In Hawai‘i, March 3 is an excuse to buy pink-and-white chichi dango and whole-strawberry ichigo daifuku for your favorite ladies and keiki … and yourself, to be honest. If 2020 taught us anything, it’s the importance of celebrating every milestone. And what better way to let someone know you’re thinking of them than with a gorgeous box of oishii mochi?
The mochi scene has changed since our sister publication HONOLULU Magazine updated its guide to mochi in Hawai‘i in 2019—but then again, what hasn’t changed? In this case it’s all good: COVID-19 has given rise to a slew of new Instagram food businesses, many catering to sweet tooths.
Scroll below for an up-to-date list of where you can find mochi and other treats this Girls’ Day. It’s a good idea to plan ahead, since some places have deadlines and others sell out well before March 3.
