What to do: Chinese New Year events

Sunday, Feb. 10 marks the start of the Year of the Snake, but festivities to celebrate the Chinese New Year have already begun and will continue through early February. Here are some of the events to mark on your calendar:

63rd Annual Narcissus Festival
Along King, Maunakea, Smith, Pauahi and Nuuanu. The evening will begin on South King Street with a traditional Chinese lion dance blessing (Choy Cheng). The Narcissus Queen and her court will then visit Chinatown businesses and their patrons.

I can’t say this enough, but every pake east of the Hunan will be in Chinatown this weekend. Tip: Park at Kukui Plaza — the entrance is across Pali Longs. You can park for a flat fee of $3, and avoid the Chinatown traffic.
