Urban Adventures

Like scavenger hunts? You’re in luck: There are going to be not one but two separate hunts held in Honolulu on February 20. Both of them are professionally run races, both raise money for a worthy local charity. Which of them you choose is up to you.

The CitySolve Urban Race bills itself as the “crazy train experience of a lifetime,” with contestants roaming all over the city to complete tasks such as building a house of cards, bowling a strike and solving pop culture trivia. The winning team gets $300 and a chance at the national CitySolve championships.

If you’d rather stick to one neighborhood, the Chinatown Chase leads its teams through the downtown streets, cracking codes and solving mysteries. As an extra bonus, this scavenger hunt involves drinking—lots of it. (Full disclosure—Honolulu Magazine is fielding a team for this upcoming Chinatown Chase. It’ll be our third year participating, and we’ll be defending our status as two-time winners of the Red Thong award, for sexiest costumes.)
