Fresh Fish

What: We smell something fishy—but this is a catch you’ll definitely want to score. The seasonal Fishmarket shopping event at Fishcake is happening this Sunday, with hip vendors hawking home décor, stationery and trinkets that you’ll totally flip for. Grab sleek, minimalist pieces from MONO, vintage treasures from Hound & Quail and Vintage Rose, and cute cards from Miemiko. Morning Glass will also be there doling out delicious drinks and eats.

It’s A Scream

What: Trick or treating? That is so first grade. Now that you’re all grown up, the real Halloween fun happens at the Hallowballoo Music and Arts Festival in Chinatown. Big Freedia, Iyeoka and David Lindley will be performing on the concert stage, but the real entertainment will be the hordes of costume-clad festival-goers. This year, the event is happening the 25th, which means you can join the festivities and still be able to serve up some treats on Halloween proper the weekend after.
When: Saturday, Oct. 25, 5:30–10 p.m.

All-Star Wars

What: You’re totally creative, but your attention starts to stray when you have to create something from scratch (shudder). Vans makes it easy to create a one-of-a-kind projectwith a customization option on its website, which lets you create kicks that are totally, uniquely you. Even better, it just released a couple of sweet new Star Wars prints, only available until Nov. 15, so your feet can rep the Force (Dark Side or no, we won’t judge) with Darth Vader or Yoda patterns.

What: For moms, Halloween means hours of costume crafting, hours of walking door to door with your little one, and hours sorting through candy looking for needles. (What, just us?) Have a more fashionable spooky season at Calypso St. Barth’s “A Halloween Affair for Mommy & Me.” Chic moms can check out the new Soiree collection while the kids enjoy a Halloween story time and coloring station, complete with treats. Talk about a win-win.

Let’s Jam

What: Breakfast in your busy lifestyle has become pretty sad: a banana you grab on the way out the door, or a candy bar left in your purse from the week before. Spice it up with some delish jam or jellies that you can keep on hand for a quick, sweet piece of toast in the a.m. The best part? You made it yourself. Cookspace in Ward Warehouse is having a jellies workshop using locally grown fruits, and everyone goes home with three jars of DIY deliciousness. Mornings just got a whole lot happier.

What: If Hawai‘i had a flavor, it would be a little bit sweet and a little bit salty—but 100 percent ‘ono. At the new Arts and Flavors of Hawai‘i Food and Products Show, get a taste of it through the local and gourmet foods that will be available for sale. There will also be fashionable finds from boutiques, locally made bath products, eco-friendly apparel and artwork. Can you say “yum?”
