The Show Must Go Up

Prepare to be stunned by the 12 castmembers of the upcoming CabaRAE show, who clearly have kept up their stretching a lot better than you have. Feats in this “cabariety” show include flying on trapezes, balancing acts, pole dancing and breathtaking gymnastics. Watch the preview show now (which includes a cocktail hour and cast meet-and-greet) in the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort Tapa Ballroom, located directly above the future home of the show, which is currently undergoing a massive renovation.

Boarding Party
What: There’s only one more month of summer, so you better start using up your beach hours, stat. A perfect excuse to put on your sunnies and lounge on the sand is the 30th China Uemura & Tees Longboard Surfing Classic. A benefit for China Uemura’s Surfing Foundation, which raises funds to support education and medical initiatives in the community, this competition will feature talented waveriders of all ages pitting their skills against each other.

When: July 31–August 3. Starts at 7 a.m.
Details: There’s even a stand-up paddle boarding division! And you know how much we love that.

English Lit. Up
What: Remembering falling in love with Catcher in the Rye in eighth grade? J.D. Salinger totally, like, got you. Get your angst out during some #tbt emo time with three previously out-of-print Salinger stories, published as one book earlier this month. The stories, titled “The Young Folks,” “Go See Eddie” and “Once a Week Won’t Kill You,” are from the 1940s, the author’s early years. Your middle school English teacher would be so proud of you.
Details: The book is $13.18 before shipping.

Mad Maxim
What: The trailer for Mad Max: Fury Road, the post-apocalyptic action-flick remake of the 1979 Mel Gibson film, was just released, and it’s everything you’d expect: blood, scary villains and lots of testosterone. But the scene-stealers were top models Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Abbey Lee Kershaw, Riley Keough, Courtney Eaton and Zoe Kravitz as a crew of desert beauties. With that much fashionable pedigree on the cast, will Mad Max prove to be the most unexpectedly stylish movie of 2015?
When:The film’s release date is currently May 15, 2015.
Details: Let’s just hope Rosie does a better job acting than she did in Transformers: Dark of the Moon.
