6 ways to make good use of your weekend.
Eel Good Time
What: It seems like only yesterday Fighting Eel downtown came into our lives with hip, locally designed closet stuffers—but apparently it's been four years. Time flies! Celebrate with the FE team this Saturday with the launch off the new Fighting Eel fall collection, giveaways and 15 percent of all purchases from 10 a.m.–noon.
When: Saturday, Sept. 6, 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
Where: 1133 Bethel St.
Details: We totally need these cutie patootie FE and Ginger13 potted cacti, which will be available at the event.
A Rose Is a Rose
What: Vintage fashions. Delicate lace hankies. Estate jewelry. These are a few of our favorite things. Dive in (in as ladylike a manner as possible, of course) to the Vintage Rose pop-up shop this weekend at the oh-so-appropriate Waioli Tea Room. Browse for unique fashion finds as well as homewares such as dishware, furniture and even fresh lilies and violets.
When: Saturday, Sept. 6, 9 a.m.–3 p.m.
Where: Waioli Tea Room Lanai, 2950 Manoa Road
Details: If you want to make a day of it, set up a reservation 24 hours in advance at thewaiolitearoom.com for the afternoon tea service, which comes with pastries, sandwiches and cakes.
On the Runway
What: The perfect way to assuage your sorrow over the end of summer is here. Today marks the first day of New York Fall Fashion Week, the biggest event in fashion of the season. That means oodles of cutting-edge street style from some of the hottest names, new collections from designers and lots of internet chit-chat about the festivities. Check out the coverage and galleries at Harper's Bazaar throughout the week to stay up to date and totally inspired.
When: Sept. 4–11
Details: fashionweekdates.com will also stream live coverage of Fashion Week. Totally worth getting up six hours early for.
What: Betty Halbreich, aka the OG personal shopper who made the job famous with her 40-year post at Bergdorf Goodman, is the go-to style maven for everyone from celebs to socialites. In her new book I'll Drink to That: A Life in Style, With a Twist, read about how she fashioned her life of taste and eye for ensembles—while still keeping her sense of humor.
When: The book comes out today.
Details: $20.28 for a hardcover and $11.99 for a Kindle version. Watch this 2013 interview with Halbreich from The New Yorker to get a dose of her charm.
A La Muse Point
What: Ducking into the cool, elegant La Muse store is always a nice break from the bustle of downtown. As a bonus, this weekend, La Muse is hosting a trunk show with jewelry line Alohi Kai. Designer Shera Mercer draws inspration for her beautiful, hand-cast silver pendants from the ocean. Think shiny sharks, stubbly anemones and gleaming oyster shells (spotted by Mercer on her scuba diving trips).
When: Friday, Sept. 5, 6–9 p.m.
Where: 1156 Nuuanu Ave.
Details: Mercer is also an underwater photographer. Check out her images—often the models for her jewelry—at alohikai.com.

Gaze upon iridescent butterflies, dainty seahorses and shimmering beetle-shell jewelry, as well as the famously intricate nautilus shell, corals and colorful flora. There will also be unique examples of nature-inspired jewelry and clothing of the Pacific.
