Salt Liko's debut at Honolulu Night Market

Worth Its Salt

Salt Liko

We're sorry.

We know we're not supposed to keep anything from you, but, well, in yesterday's Weekend Picks, we sort of did.

We told you there would be three fashion shows at Honolulu Night Market, one with a resort theme styled by Tiare Thomas. What we didn't tell you is that the show marks the debut of Salt Liko, a brand new line co-created by Thomas herself, alongside designer Matt Bruening, and graphic designers/cultural consultants Kuhao Zane and Brandy-Alia Serikaku.

Don't be mad. The samples came in two days ago and we just scored an exclusive sneak peek: classic, sophisticated resort wear in rayon and modal blends with beachy, slightly bohemian touches. Eleven styles comprise the debut collection, including draped cardigans with gauzy back panels, caftans edged in prints, batwing blouses, and palazzo pants with sheer tuxedo stripes.

Lei Chic The color palette, centered around blues, grays and gold, draws inspiration from the ocean. The custom prints, created by Zane and Serikaku, showcase beautiful Hawaiian shells. Then there are the bags: bold waterproof totes and envelope clutches in turquoise, sand and silver.

All befitting of a line designed for a well-traveled, confident woman ("Salt" pays homage to the ocean or voyage while "Liko," the ohia bud, can transform and adapt to any landscape).

Forgive us yet?

Okay, as a final peace offering, we're offering up two reserved seats to tomorrow night's fashion show. The line is so new, you might not get another chance to see it until later this summer. If you're interested, email your name and cell phone number and we'll choose a winner at the end of the day.

You know you love us.

View Salt Liko tomorrow night at 7:30 p.m. at Honolulu Night Market's main stage fronting the Pinch of Salt warehouse. The debut collection launches this summer in Happy Haleiwa (click here for locations) and Community, 22 S. Pauahi St., (808) 523-0001. Follow Salt Liko on Instagram for updates.
