Pack Your HydroFlask—The Waikiki Spam Jam Goes Green for 2018
(Sponsored) This year’s festival on Saturday, April 28, will further its green initiatives with water stations, recycling bins and by encouraging restaurants to go plastic-free.

The 16th annual Waikiki Spam Jam presented by Outrigger Hotels and Resorts returns to Kalākaua Avenue on Saturday, April 28 from 4 to 10 p.m. with live entertainment, craft vendors, official merchandise and 20 local restaurants showcasing the many ways Spam can be enjoyed. Hawai‘i’s love affair for the pre-cooked luncheon meat dates back almost 90 years. Today more than 30,000 locals and visitors gather each year to celebrate their love for the iconic brand.
This year, the festival is partnering with the Kōkua Hawai‘i Foundation to enhance its green initiatives and further its positive impact on Waikīkī. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own reusable water bottles, or purchase a Spam Jam-branded collapsible water bottle at the event, to fill with fresh drinking water at any of the Kōkua water stations. The Kōkua Hawai‘i Foundation will also provide recycling bins along Kalākaua Avenue for HI-5 containers. Plus, this year the Waikiki Spam Jam is encouraging all restaurants and vendors to use compostable products and go plastic-free throughout the event.
After the event, all unsold food will be donated to Aloha Harvest, a local nonprofit that rescues quality donated food and distributes it to the hungry in Hawai‘i through more than 175 charitable social service agencies on O‘ahu.
