Lei Chic presents Love & Monsters at Honolulu Night Market

Monster Mashup

Love & Monsters

Don't you just hate it when you want something you can't have?

A billion dollars (like that'll happen) or Ryan Reynolds (hey, that could've happened… if Blake Lively hadn't gotten to him first).

Or Love & Monsters' new keiki clothing line, which made its public debut earlier this month at Children and Youth Day but never technically went on sale. Until now. Or rather, until this Saturday when Love & Monsters appears at Honolulu Night Market as Lei Chic's featured designer.

Love & Monsters When we last checked in with Kalihi designer Richie Calizar, she was stitching adorable booties from vintage fabrics and hand-woven, yarn-based textiles, along with equally adorable monster dolls. Both are still true, by the way.

It's just that now, she's throwing in tot-ally cute clothes with that same mixed-media feel: patterned onesies with matching "lollipop flowers," monster tanks embellished with vintage scraps – think ties for boys, hearts for girls – and flowy, girly tanks accented with hand-woven or vintage hearts and ruffles.

Now, onto the savings. Stop by Calizar's booth on Saturday and you'll automatically score 20 percent off her booties and beginning walker shoes. Mention Lei Chic and you'll also get 10 percent off everything else. Which means you have no excuse not to take home anything your (child at) heart desires.

Of course, this wouldn't be a Lei Chic booth without a giveaway, so fill out a form – no purchase necessary – and you'll be entered to win a personalized monster doll for the keiki of your choosing.

Yes. Even if that "keiki" is you.

$35-$50 booties and shoes, $25 dolls, $28-$35 apparel. Look for Love & Monsters in Honolulu Night Market's Pinch of Salt warehouse this Saturday, 6-11 p.m. Main photos: April Jessee Photography. Product photos: Richie Calizar via Instagram.
