Lei Chic Shop
Shorts Story
What:
Consider this an addendum to the keiki collection roundup we posted the other week – Ava Sky just released adorable mini pom pom shorts in sweet tie-dyed pastels, the perfect companion to its signature tunics and dresses. The label's keiki line was named HONOLULU Magazine's Best Kids' Fashion back in March. $26 each, available at Fighting Eel Downtown, 1133 Bethel St., and Kailua, 629 Kailua Rd., Suite 130.

Down the Road
What:
If you'd like a glimpse of future Kakaako, take a stroll (or bike) down Cooke St. today. The area will be temporarily outfitted with greenery, parklets, seats, bike bump outs and roundabouts – a real-life preview of Kamehameha Schools' master plan for a pedestrian- and bike-friendly neighborhood. Don't forget to admire the paint job. Local artists have slowly been transforming walls and buildings into large stunning works of art.
When and Where: Today on Cooke St., between Halekauwila St. and Ala Moana Blvd.

Wardrobe (and Other) Updates

  • Warning: The Great Gatsby can trigger an obsession with show-stopping dresses dripping in rich fabrics, glittering jewels and light-scattering crystals. Find out how you can channel the decade's lavish style in this month's issue of HONOLULU Magazine.
  • Seven for All Mankind just released its new jewelry collaboration with actress Nikki Reed. Reed says the five-piece capsule collection, which includes honeycomb column earrings, a gunmetal spiked star necklace, and mixed metal bangles, is inspired by love. Shop it here.
  • Is Anne Hathaway better as a blond? Did Kim Kardashian wear her grandmother's couch? Is Madonna allergic to pants? Click through all the photos from Monday's Met Gala and decide for yourself.
  • We can't wait to see Target's next designer collaboration with… wait for it… Phillip Lim. The line will consist of men's and women's clothes and accessories when it hits stores September 15.
