Kakaako is kicking some butt and taking names.

First, Bon Appetit magazine named Hank’s Haute Dogs as one of the best places in the United States to order a hot dog. We know how to spot ‘em: Hank’s, you may remember, was named Best Reason to Blow off Your Diet in HONOLULU Magazine’s March 2008 issue.

Henry Adaniya, owner of Hank’s Haute Dogs, earned the only Hawaii hot dog mention from Bon Appetit, which raved about the Fat Boy, “a bacon-wrapped, deep-fried dog topped with mayo, tomato and lettuce.” You can see the whole story here. Congrats with mustard, Henry!

Then Elle, in its August issue, has a feature called “Hair Across America,” and named the top 100 salons in the United States. Honolulu’s trendy J Salon was picked—the only salon in Hawaii to earn such an honor. Want to get your hair cut or colored by the pros at J Salon?
