Just purchase a $5 “passport” at the information counter on the 'Ewa end of the old Ward Warehouse and get shopping. Quite the Find
What: Sometimes you find the prettiest, sweetest little surprises in the most unlikely of places. This Sunday you’ll find one at the Hawai‘i Retirement Community, where some of our favorite things—fashion and food—are coming together for an Arts and Flavors of Hawai‘i food and products show that you won’t regret attending. Local designer Florencia Arias will be there with her new summer line (and it is a total stunner, by the way) along with jewelers Kira Hawai‘i and Pure Joy Hawai‘i. Natural Aloha’s fresh organic skincare products will also be available as well as food by Earl Sandwich and Onda Pasta.
When: Sunday, May 3, 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
Where: 428 Kawaihae St.
Details: Stay tuned to the Arts and Flavors of Hawai'i Facebook page for info on future events.

Emo-ji Band
What: It was a big week for emojis. SwiftKey released its emoji use report, with all kinds of fun trivia. We adore the fact that the French are the only ones that use hearts more than faces, for one. Plus, Canadians love the smiling poo pile, Australians are all about the vices (guns, booze and junk food ftw!) and everyone has a really dirty mind when it comes to that eggplant. This is extra relevant right now because, just in time for this weekend’s brunch and beach posts, Instagram (in addition to releasing more filters for us filtering addicts) has just allowed emojis to be hashtagged! Except that eggplant, actually. Because, get your head out of the gutter.
Where: Read the report here.
Details: Oh, and Americans apparently love the pizza emoji. Total shocker, right?
Attend
Beauty Call
What: Time to gussy up, gals. In celebration of the MAC is Beauty collection, MAC at Ala Moana Center will host a downright beautiful event that will be the most gorgeous part of your weekend. Feast your eyes on beauty competitions (you’ll finally be able to see how those over-the-top hairdos are done, start to finish) and beauty and styling performances. Plus, you’ll have a chance to test the talents of the MAC hair and makeup pros on yourself—all for free!
When: Friday, May 1 and Sunday, May 3, noon–8 p.m.
Where: MAC, Ala Moana Center
Details: Call 955-0356 for more information.
Watch
Stream By
What: It’s always a bittersweet day when the Netflix team decides to switch up its content. As of today, we had to say goodbye to late-night watching faves such as A Knight’s Tale (Heath <3 4ever) and Airplane (always good for a laugh). The list of newbies to replace them certainly has a good number of duds (such as Extraterrestrial, which is about kids partying in the woods and aliens and YAWN), but some movies that we wouldn’t mind spending a good chunk (read: all) of the weekend watching in our pajamas. Namely, Before I Disappear, an award-winning film about a suicidal guy whose niece prompts him to change his mind, The Boxtrolls because duh and Hot Girls Wanted, a documentary produced by Rashida Jones and the Kinsey Institute on young women in the world of amateur porn. Oh, and Transporter: The Series. Don’t judge us.

Details: Uh oh, is Duck Dynasty up there too? Great, we’re not going to get anything done this weekend.

Jungle to Jungle
What: Having only two days out of the week to dedicate to both shopping and lounging is harsh because, sometimes, you just don’t want to get out of bed. Thanks to awesome local designer Cassandra Rull, you can shop for her slick designs online, including her just-released Jungle Fever collection with fun, punchy colors, Mara Hoffman-esque tribal prints and those breezy, boxy cuts we’ve come to know and love from Rull. Each piece is one of a kind and perfect for a beach day—you know, for next weekend, when you’re ready to get out of bed.

Details: Check out Rull’s Instagram—i.e., an outdoorsy dream—for inspiration on where to take your new tunic out and about.

Hot To It
What: When it comes to planning out our fashion and beauty future, we’re all about starting way in advance (two words: eye cream). That’s why we’re already marking our calendars for the Nordstrom Beauty Trend Show, happening next week Saturday, May 9. A $20 ticket gets you a spot watching the spring beauty runway show, where top industry insiders will reveal spring’s hottest beauty trends, as well as one-on-one makeup, skincare and fragrance consultations (expect some awesome D.I.Y. tricks for taking your makeup routine to the next level). Oh, and here’s a tip: We’re not the only ones excited, so put aside some time this weekend to buy your ticket and reserve you spot.
When: Saturday, May 9, 8 a.m.–7 p.m.
Where: Nordstrom, Ala Moana Center
Details: You’ll also score a Nordstrom tote bag for attending, which is perfect for storing all your new beauty purchases—did we mention that your $20 tickets are redeemable toward your beauty purchase on the day of the event? Win and win. Reserve your ticket here.
