6 Ways to Shop and Play This Weekend
Lei Chic’s guide to the weekend’s best events.
What: Splitting up is hard. When Bamboo Sky closed its doors last month, we went through four of the five stages of grief—we never got to acceptance. Now we won’t have to, thank goodness, because the store is reopening in a new Kilohana Square location this weekend. You’ll be able to shop hundreds—yes, hundreds—of new arrivals and see some of your favorite stylish faces from the store. So dry those tears and start stocking up on beautiful boho and urban staples from the likes of Amuse Society and Spell Designs. Only smiles from here on.
When: Opens today. New hours are Monday–Saturday, 10 a.m.–6 p.m. and Sunday, 10 a.m.–3 p.m.
Where: 1016 Kapahulu Ave., Suite 100
Details: There’s free parking in the square—just let the parking lot attendant know you’re headed to the shop. Call 591-8003 for more information.
What: Class it up this weekend at the elegant Junior League of Honolulu fundraiser, JLH-LUXE. Funds raised will support the JLH community programs, which include volunteer development and community service projects, so you’ll definitely leave feeling warm and fuzzy—if you’re not already, from the fashion fix you’re sure to get. The event will feature a fashion show showcasing Anne Namba’s new spring 2015 collection. There will also be a luncheon and silent auction with designer fashion and luxury merchandise available.
When: Saturday, March 14, 10:30 a.m.–2:30 p.m.
Where: Sheraton Waikīkī Hotel
Details: Tables of 10 start at $1,500 and individual tickets are $135
Book It Home
What: Whether it’s crafting up a perfect piece of wall art or hacking our way to a blog-worthy tablescape, D.I.Y. projects are our favorite way to spend a day. We’re already fans of Brit & Co., the online shop go-to for crafts, creations and general ways to keep your home looking cute, so we’re absolutely stoked about the release of founder Brit Morin’s new book Homemakers. It is one part resource guide for the modern homemaker, and one part exploration into how technology is impacting our creative lives at home.

At Your Rebecca and Call
What: TGIS. Thank goodness it’s spring. Not that we don’t sneak in beach days during the winter (a perk of Island living), but we can definitely spend more time in the sea during this season. Gear up at the Rebecca Beach sale this weekend. This sweet little store is one of our favorite places to get prepped for a day of surf and sand, and it’s always packed to the brim with goodies from local designers. Take advantage of this chance to score beach bags, cute swimwear and comfy graphic tees at 50 to 75 percent off, a swimmingly good situation for you and your wallet.
When: Today, March 13 and Saturday, March 14, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
Where: 1120 12th Ave., third floor
Details: The sale does not include 2015 Acacia swimwear, but those beauties may be worth the exception of buying at full price.
What: Your Valentine’s Day bouquet is long dead (tear!) and now your coffee table is looking awfully bare. Brighten up with adorable terrariums, which are totally of-the-moment. The best part? You can make one yourself, if you take part in the Luna Amante spiritual garden workshop at MORI. You’ll be doing your space a favor and infusing some zen into your life all at once.
When: Sunday, March 15, noon–3 p.m.
Where: MORI, Ward Village Shops
Details: Sign up here. $60, all supplies are included (glass container, soil, succulent, rocks, crystals, etc.). Payment deadline is Saturday, March 14.
What: What was that? You still don’t have enough pretty, breezy resort-wear pieces to wear on the weekends? No worries: This weekend you can hit up the Tiare sample sale on the North Shore. The owners are looking to liquidate their entire warehouse of sundresses and breezy tunics, which is good news for fashionistas like yourself. There will even be girls’ dresses on clearance for $15, so bring your mini-me. You grab cute clothes at a deal, and they get to restock with awesome new merchandise. Everybody wins!
When: Sunday, March 15, 10 a.m.–2 p.m.
Where: Check the Tiare Instagram page for location updates.
Details: Everything in the warehouse must go, so don’t hold back! There’s the rest of spring and all of summer to get through, after all.
