6 Ways to Make the Weekend Even Better

Lei Chic’s guide to the weekend’s best events.

Shop

I Scream, You Scream

What: Usually, when we go to birthday parties, we have to bring a gift. At Mikinola’s third birthday party, however, we guests are the ones getting treated, with 30 percent off the entire store, free ice cream and even a 75-percent-off sales rack. It’s the perfect time to stock up on the boutique’s stylish, cutting-edge denim, separates and accessories from top brands such as Dolce Vita, Tart and One Teaspoon. A very merry unbirthday to us!
When: Saturday, Oct. 24, 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
Where: Koko Marina Center
Details: Call 394-6666 for more information.

Shop

The Fairest One of All

What: Mirror, mirror, on the wall: We already know we’re the fairest of them all, but what can you tell us about our outfit options? Time to upgrade mirrors. Head over to Neiman Marcus this weekend to check out the new MemoryMirror by MemoMi, which was recently added to 15 Neiman Marcus locations. This high-tech looking glass captures images and video of everything you try on, allowing you to see ensembles side by side, as well as in a 360-degree view. Sales associates can even send personalized recommendations to customers directly from the mirror. The shopping future is now.
Where: Neiman Marcus, Ala Moana Center
Details: Call 951-8887 for more information.

Cook

Pumpkin Rock

What: We’d never say no to a PSL (that’s pumpkin spice latte for you autumn-hating noobs). But, for 2015, we’re ready to take this epic pumpkin romance to the next level. So, for this weekend, hold our calls: We’ll be in the kitchen whipping up an orange storm of pumpkin goodness (hopefully), thanks to this gallery of pumpkin recipes from Southern Living. Test-driving delectable dishes such as pumpkin-espresso tiramisu, pear-and-pumpkin tart and coconut-pumpkin chiffon pie in preparation for the upcoming holidays is a tough job, but somebody’s got to do it.
Where: southernliving.com
Details: Just don’t bother trying to shell the pumpkin seeds you scrape out of your jack-o-lantern. Trust us, the Food52 team tried it.

Fame Game

What: High fashion? Love. High prices? Not so much. Thank goodness for H&M’s high-style collabs, where we can score creations from our favorite luxury designers at accessible prices. Balmain x H&M’s most highly anticipated collaboration since last year’s Alexander Wang one was just revealed and, girl, it’s everything you dreamed it would be and more. Think fierce, military-inspired silhouettes, luxe embellishment details and sensual satin textures. Forget Halloween—can we just skip to the Nov. 5 release date already?
When: Nov. 5.
Where: See the entire collection, with prices, at gq.com.
Details: And if you think the collection has some fashion eye candy, check out the pics from the reveal event, which was chock-full of #Balmaination celebs such as Gigi Hadid, Alexa Chung and Diane Kruger.

Shop

Face It

What: They say you should always put your best foot forward. We say: Who’s going to notice which foot is which when you put your best face forward? The Face Shop can help you with that, and since the Kāhala location is opening tomorrow, it’s the perfect time to hit up this bright and cheery Asian-inspired cosmetics store. You’ll find a selection of nail polishes from your dreams, oodles of skincare sets and routines (skin-whitening products, anyone?), and some seriously kawaii packaging. Our favorite? Hand lotion in darling pear-shape bottles adorned with ocelots, red pandas and foxes.
When: The store opens tomorrow, Oct. 24 at 10 a.m.
Where: Kāhala Mall, near California Pizza Kitchen
Details: Visit thefaceshop-america.com for more information on the brand and products offered.

Make

Blues Brothers

What: You’ve been doing a ton of crafting lately, between making your costume, creating your Halloween decorations and whipping up spooky, holiday-themed treats. But you need a break from ghosts, Frankensteins and vampires. Take a breather from the ghoulish and head over to one of our favorite crafting workshops at Chai Studio to learn about the ancient art of indigo dying. Attendees will explore different techniques and make their own dyed sundresses.
When: Sunday, Oct. 25 at 11 a.m.
Where: Chai Studio, Ward Village Shops
Details: $108 includes all materials, including one dress, one pair of gloves, materials for folding, banding and wrapping, and indigo dye. Participants are encouraged to wear dark clothes or bring an apron. Additional dyeable items will be available for sale. Call 563-4543 for more information.
