What: After presents, hot cocoa and the Christmas spirit, what really puts the sparkle in the season are all the fun holiday decorations. That is why we love that the Arts District Merchants Association is putting on a holiday décor and display contest—and is inviting the public to pick the winners. Some of our favorite Chinatown spots, such as Manifest, Next Door, Owens & Co. and Madre Chocolate will be participating, so take a stroll down there between Dec. 11 and 20 and liking the best window on Instagram at #winterwalk808.

What: Weekends aren’t complete without an awesome trunk show at one of our favorite local boutiques. This weekend, Owens & Co. welcomes BYCHARI, with its latest collection in tow. We can’t ever get enough of those BYCHARI shark teeth, nameplate necklaces and fun, minimal studs, so the timing (stocking stuffers, anyone?) couldn’t be more perfect. Plus, if you spend $125, you receive a free gift.

What: What’s Christmas without It’s A Wonderful Life? Continuing its awesome tradition of outdoor movie showings, Ward Village’s Courtyard Cinema program brings the classic to the great outdoors. Laugh, cry, be humbled and walk away with important lessons about gratitude, life perspective, bells and angels getting their wings.

What: Not that you need one, but there’s another reason to shop rocker-chic looks on the All Saints online boutique: the brand’s uber cool fashion videos and online music library. The latest video is a gritty, gorgeous short film featuring ’90s cool-kids band Blonde Redhead. The stylish threesome has the perfect grunge style for the brand and its moody tunes give just the right atmosphere for online shopping for leather jackets and distressed tees.

Paper Gangsta

What: A slew of indie designers would probably love to pair up with J.Crew. The lucky latest to actually get picked? Four-year-old girl Mayhem, from Fashion By Mayhem, the blog that started going viral after pictures of Mayhem’s paper fashion designs—yep, red-carpet gowns and styles made out of paper—started popping up on everyone’s feeds. The collection won’t be out for a few months, but in the meantime, we’ll be spending this weekend reading up on Mayhem’s past creations, which are equal parts amazing and cute.
