TAKE YOUR BEST SHOT...5th ANNUAL PHOTO CONTEST

HONOLULU Magazine and the Hotels & Resorts of Halekulani present our 5th annual Photo Contest. Have a photo that you think is prize-worthy? Share it with us and we may share it with Honolulu Magazine readers in our November 2009 issue. The winner will also receive cash and other great prizes. Photos must be taken in Hawai‘i within the last year; each photographer can submit up to two photos.


We're looking for new and interesting visions of Honolulu and Hawaii. We challenge you to go beyond a casual snapshot and compose a photo with an eye-catching subject, an remarkable angle, exquisite lighting or a stunning setting.

OFFICIAL RULES AND ELIGIBILITY


➢    Photos must be the original works of the photographer.

➢    Photos must not have been previously published, HONOLULU retains first-time rights to publish the winning photos.

➢    Photos must be shot in Hawaii between August 2008 and August 2009.

➢    Each photographer may submit no more than 2 entries.

➢    An entry form must accompany all entries. If submitting a hard copy print, the following fields should be included:

  • Name
  • Address
  • City, ST  ZIP
  • Phone
  • E-mail (if available)
  • Title of Photo
  • Artists Statement (description of photo and why you took it or what it means to you)
  • Type of camera used
  • Location of photo
  • Approx. date photo taken

➢    Digital submissions are highly encouraged, but size limitations may apply (less than 1 MB). All photos should be no larger than 8" x 10".

➢    Print submissions are also welcomed, but should include an entry form on the back of each print. Print submissions should also be limited to 8” x 10”.  Anything larger will be disqualified.  All submissions must fit into an envelope no larger than 9” x 12”.

➢    If sending print submissions, please do not send originals.  Materials will not be returned.

➢    All entries must be received by August 31, 2009 11:59 PM (HST). 2009 Photo Contest is now closed!

➢    Contest is open to everyone, except employees of PacificBasin Communications, aio LLC and its affiliates, Hotels & Resorts of Halekulani and immediate families of and their affiliates.

➢    HONOLULU and Hotels and Resorts of Halekulani reserve the right to publish all submitted photos in print and on the Web.

JUDGING

➢    Entries will be judged by the editorial and design staff of HONOLULU and staff of Hotels and Resorts of Halekulani.

➢    All entries will be judged anonymously.  The photographer’s name should not appear anywhere on the photo or on the digital file.

DEADLINE

➢    Entries must have been received via digital submission or delivered to our office no later than 11:59 p.m. on August 31, 2009.

➢    Mailed entries must have been postmarked by August 29, 2009.
