Starting with just 26 students in 1981 to serving more than 300 in preschool to Grade 12 today, this Windward Christian school on two convenient campuses takes pride in still being small enough to know and care for each child individually and their families.
“We value that parents, as primary educators, have asked to partner with our school in educating their children to grow and thrive in heart, mind and body, and to prepare them to make a difference in the world,” says Linda Kawakami, director of advancement. “Our caring and loving teachers see each student’s potential and encourage students to be excited to come to school.”
Trinity Christian School’s rigorous liberal arts program, centered on Western civilization, also encompasses Hawaiian history. A capstone two-week Grand Tour of Europe brings to life what seniors have studied. Diverse offerings in the arts, physical education and more enriches the school’s commitment to educating the whole person. Swimming and public speaking, for example, start and continue on from preschool to graduation. Secondary students learn the rigors of quick and critical thinking in debate. By Grade 12, students are prepared to be questioned in defending their senior thesis.
“We often hear from our graduates and their parents how well-prepared our students are for college and beyond,” says Kawakami. “Our Christ-centered classical school nurtures and challenges our students into excellence.”
