Committed to a quality education of academic excellence that incorporates and promotes Catholic values, Saint John the Baptist Catholic School strives to develop the holistic growth of each student. The co-ed pre-K to Grade 8 school, conveniently located near Fort Shafter and Tripler Army Medical Center, offers a safe and welcoming school environment with a low student-teacher classroom ratio to ensure attentive and personalized instruction.
“We provide inspiring, collaborative learning for our students and work as partners with parents to promote a value-centered and family-centric learning community where children have opportunities to reach their full potential,” says Father Juan Pablo Galeano, Saint John the Baptist pastor and school administrator.
Students are challenged by a strong curriculum that develops spiritual faith, communication skills, leadership and technological experience. Choir and the performing arts, and a sports program in volleyball and basketball are among the diverse extra-curricular activities offered to nurture individual talents and to develop well-rounded students.
“Our dedicated teachers impart knowledge and critical skills to enable students to function fully as citizens in a changing and evolving technological and multi-cultural community,” says Sister Cecilia Fabular, OP, school principal. The school’s new $1.5 million Clarence T.C. Ching Science and Computer Center offers students state-of-the-art 21st Century learning tools.
The WASC and WCEA-accredited school’s graduates are well prepared with meaningful experiences of faith, character-building traditions and intellectual foundations to pursue a lifetime of happiness and success.

St. John Vianney Parish School, located in the heart of Kailua and nestled near the base of the Koolau Mountains since 1965, will celebrate its 50th Anniversary throughout this year with several special events. Rooted in the values of service, compassion and respect, the school is developing the next generation of Hawaii’s leaders through its strong academic program, Catholic faith education and integration of technology into the discovery and learning process. Accredited by WASC/WCEA, the school offers small classes and affordable tuition with year-round open enrollment. Generations of Windward O‘ahu families have recognized the significance of a quality St. John Vianney education for half a century.
From the Early Learning Center for both 3- and 4-year-olds through grade eight, students engage in rigorous academics supporting 21st century skills. The program includes Aquaponics, Robotics, Japanese Language, Art, PE and Hawaiian studies. Students are encouraged to thrive as individuals in academics as well as through band and orchestra, hula, league sports and more. Located near the Marine Corps Base Hawaii, the school also offers military dependents a challenging curriculum in a safe and caring environment as their parents serve our country. St. John Vianney Parish School prides itself in partnering with parents, as their child’s primary educators, to foster the whole child, thereby fulfilling their potential as contributing members of society. “As a result of this partnership, our students move on to some of the best high schools in the state,” shares Principal Caryn DeMello.
